Dr Anders Hougaard is Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Copenhagen and a consultant neurologist at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev and Gentofte, where he specialises clinically in headache disorders and stroke.
His research focuses on migraine, particularly migraine aura, cortical spreading depolarisation, advanced neuroimaging, and the interface between migraine and cerebrovascular disease. He is Chair of the Headache and Vascular Disorders Special Interest Group of the International Headache Society, Associate Editor of Headache, and Lecturer and Co-Course Director of the University of Copenhagen’s Master of Headache Disorders programme.
He has authored more than 85 peer-reviewed publications and six textbook chapters on headache disorders.
