Dr Philip Holland is a Translational Neuroscientist at King’s College London (KCL) where he leads the preclinical headache group.
His research is focused on developing a greater understanding of the mechanisms underlying primary headache disorders to aid in the discovery of novel therapies. His current research is focused on developing a greater understanding of why more women than men get migraine, the role of our body clocks in attack susceptibility and the non-pain symptoms of migraine.
He graduated from Glasgow University before undertaking his PhD at University College London. He then worked at the University of California San Francisco and Edinburgh University before starting his own research group at KCL in 2013.
When not leading the headache group, he is an active educator, serves on the editorial board for leading scientific journals/congresses, is on the board of the European Headache Federation (EHF) and is currently the president-elect of the EHF, taking on the presidency in 2027.
