Dr Sarah Barker has provided psychological support to individuals affected by pain, physical health problems and trauma for over 30 years.
Working in the NHS, NGOs and the private sector, she has expertise in working with a range of stakeholders and combining psychological treatment with interventional approaches. She led an MDT at the INPUT pain management unit at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust providing in-patient and outpatient care to people with complex pain and trauma. The team developed an additional pain management programme to prepare patients undergoing neuromodulation (SCS).
She also worked at Kings College Hospital with the dental team, providing psychological assessment and treatment for people with orofacial pain. She has published research on psychological approaches to general and facial pain and promotes psychological preparation and integration in physical healthcare.
